About the Author
Richard T. Chesterfield, of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Company I on April 22, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day. On February 17, 1862, he was listed as being detailed in the Western Gunboat Service. Richard T. Chesterfield died on July 15 in the explosion of Gunboat Mound City.Documents for this Author:
