Lieut. Geo. F. Kilets
Adjutant 16th Mich. Infy. Vols.
Lieutenant:
I would respectfully
through you, tender my resignation as 2nd Lieuten-
ant in this Regiment.
My reasons for taking this
Step are as follows: When I entered the Service
three years since, it was with the understanding that
that period – three years – would be all that would
be required of me, and my matters of family and
business were arranged with a view to a return home at
the expiration of my term of Service. To remain in the
Service for a greater period would cause me a great
pecuniary loss. I would, therefore, respectfully ask that
this resignation be accepted.
