About the Author
Joseph B. Slack, of East Saginaw, Michigan, enlisted in the 16th Michigan Infantry Company D as a Corporal on August 1, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 21 on September 7 and was later promoted to 1st Sergeant. His other promotion was to 2nd Lieutenant on April 22, 1863. On May 15, 1864, Slack was transferred from Company D to Company K. Joseph B. Slack was discharged from service on September 9.Documents for this Author:
