Dear Brother
I received
yours of the 14
th this morn-
ing. You will see by my
heading that I am not
at Chattanooga. Father
[ ? ] here to report to the
Lt. Col but found that he
had gone to Nashville we
have been waiting here
ever since. Father has com-
mand of this Battalion.
I guess he will have to stay
here all the time.
I shall
go to Chattanooga in Co D
and so I will not be with
Father but in the end I
guess things will come out
all night in the end.
I am going to the les.
And learn the drift and
their I guess I shall be
detailed. I may go to write
for Gen. U. S. Grant at any
rate his A.A.G.

I could get a place

Wallace & I are stoping in
the Cols. Tent with Father
at present. I enjoying-
self much better than I
had expected to. As soon as
the Lt. Col. comes Father
will got to Chattanooga to
get his things and later Wall.

an excitement here at present
for fear John Morgan will
come and destroy the bridge
[ ? ] and in that way
cut off communications
with Chatanooga. For
two or three nights this Reg has had
pickets out. All day yester-
day (sunday) Father was you
with Gen.
[ ? ] laying out
Fortifications on the hills
I am quite well expecting
a cold which will soon
be better. You must excuse
dirty paper for everything
is dirty here and where I lay
my paper down it soils it
My hand trembles a good day
