About the Author
1st Michigan Engineer, Newton P. Fox, enlisted as a Private at the age of 16 on December 26, 1863 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into Company D on December 31 and joined his regiment on March 14, 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Fox was later promoted to Sergeant Major. He was transferred from the 1st Michigan Engineers into the 1st Veteran Volunteer Engineers on August 20. Newton P. Fox was discharged from service on September 26, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.Documents for this Author:
