About the Author
Thomas Wasson, of Ottawa County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company C on September 16, 1861 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service on October 10 at the age of 18. He was promoted to Corporal on February 15, 1863 and to Sergeant on January 5, 1864. Thomas Wasson was discharged from service on August 17, 1865 at Macon, Georgia and he lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan after the war.
