Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Carter Creek Station Tenn June the 15th 1864 Dear Mett I take up my pen to redeem my promise to you If you never get this I suppose the crime will be none the less but it will be some consulation to have a clear concience I was out in the country today and had my dinner at a farmhouse and I must tell you what I had to eat there was new potatoes and green peas and pigeon pie we are camped on the railroad between Columbia and Nashville about thirtyfive miles from Nashville we will probably lay here some time until they can get horses for us I seen a fellow that left my company after the battle of [   ?   ] he say that John was well when he left the company he was wounded in the hand slightly he says John done his hand up for him when he got shot there was one man killed in my company and two wounded I have not herd from him since what of the rejime was home are scattered along on the railroad in the block houses guarding the bridges there is no enemy here excep a few bush whackers for my part I would like to be mounted and go to the front right off there is nothing more for me to write to you my health is good when you write to me let me know how I get along give my love tp Uncle and Aunt and Tommy direct your letter to Thomas Wasson Co C 2nd Mich Cavalry
