Dearest Wife i
received your kind letter dated 7
th
and was glad to here that you was
wel it found me wel i was down
whare murry was Sunday he was
wel and the rest of the boys i
am sorry that the times is so bad
but i have not got my pay yet
i wish that i had som money to
send to you but i dont no when
i shal git any i think father
had better sel them oxons and
git what he can for them i hope
it wont be long before i can com
home and see to things my self
i should think that father would
git discourage things is so big
wel you all wil have to git along
the best you can i think of you
often keep up god courage and
do the best you can i wil
send you a ring in this letter
and som peare i wish that father
would take them to som jewelry
shop and see if they are worth
any thing i think they are
a lieutenant told me that
they ware worth a good deal
and that they ware the real peare
and if he cant find out any thing
about it keep them til i come home
and i want you to write and let
me no what they think about it i wil
send some in thomas letter to
yo but let him take them and
see what they are worth
the male has just came in and
i got a letter from you dated 3th
it must of laid over somewhare
i cant think of much at
