Regiment: 18th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: [Star with USA Shield] October 13th 1863 Head Quarters Nashville Tennessee Army of the conberlan 2 Division 3 Brigade Dear father It is with great pleasure that i set down to rite you a few lines we are all well and in good spirites and [ ? ] these few lines will find you at the same it is rather [ ? ] this morning it apeares that this talk of we going away Is all flowed over we may stay here all winter now if we go i hope that we will before long I am looking for my box now every day i hope that i may get it before we leave if we dont and captain will come back here and get then for I [ ? ] there hant much going on now i dont think that there will be a great deal more fighting done at Chattanoo well i dont think of eny more at present to rit so i will finish my leter some other time I am on duty to day my trick is on now but it raines & i shant go on as long as it raines, so i thought that i would spend my time in rite ing to you for if we should go to the front it must be so i couldent rite i hope that we may not go on that acount. I hope we will get our pay before we leave so that i can send it a great deal beter here than i can after we leave Well i dont think of eny more at present so you must Excuse me for this time and will go on patroll it has about stoped raining, pa if i can get home next spring it will be all that i ask i think there will be som thing don if i can be to home next sumer it is as soon as i think of geting home eny way i will be satisfied to get home then all rite, whitch i hope i may. when i get this box i want bother you to send eny more but i wanted a good pare of bootes and a vest and a good pare of bootes would cost $15.00 dolars here [On Envelope:] Mr Dyer Seely Moscow Hillsdale County Michigan
