Regiment: 1st Michigan Engineers Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp near Washington DC Tuesday June 6/ 65 My Dear wife I have not heard from you since 19 I dont no why I dont get a letter Lucy I am no more a soldier yesterday we turned over every thing that be longed to the U.S. + this morning was mustered out of the servis but dont get out pay till we get to Mich which will be as soon as we can get transportation + that will be in a day or two I think we will be in Mich next week + week after be at home Lucy I am well + hope this will find you + Allie well + all of the rest of the folks I will write as soon as we got thare for we shall be thare a few before we get pay I think you may expect to see mee a bout the 23 or 24 + I guess not be disapointed unles we are detained for transportation more than I think for I write this with pen cil be cause I have my things fixed red- ey to start any time Lucy I hope to see you soon + not leave again for a soldier all tho I have ben luckey so far this in haste R.M.C.
