Dear Friends
We leave for the Regt today
or tomorrow direct to the
regt as usual I will make
arrangement with one of the
25
th Mich. Infantry on pro-
vost guard in the city to have
my mail sent to me that
I am acquainted with I sup-
pose before this time that Daniel
Wells is home he left here about
the first of the Month I did not
get to se him till he was gone
we ar going through on the cars
all the way to Nashville the
think it is not safe to go any
other way as it is reported that
John Morgan is about to make
another of his rodes in to Ky.
it would take us about ten days
to go by land and this would
give a good Chhance to intercept
us on the rout and 4 or 5000
horses would be quite an object
at this time as well as to us
this makes three letters I have
written home since I came here
the reason that I did not write
sooner after I came here was
because I expected to get my money
and sent it home or perhaps went
home a fiew days myself but I
cannot get it till I get to the regt
and I think that as near as I can
find out that I have not drew any
money yet atall and infact I
hope I have not for I would rather
the government has it than to have
it we the hands of the colonel for
he is not the best man in the world
I do not se the reason that Thomas
has not wrote to me since I
left the regt. all the news I
have got from there I got from
others he hates to write aletter
the worst of any body I ever
saw
give my love to all
