Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp Mich. Feb 24/62 Dear Friend I will try and answer yours which I received yesterday. It found me enjoying my self as well as a soldier can expect. Times is dull here yet. I cant tell you how long they will remain so for as soon as the roads gets a little dryer we will be on the road traveling to find the secesh. Their has been great talk here this or to about the rebels going to attack us before long we will be after them. They will wish they never seen a yankee as they call us. I should like to go to some of the spelling schools and to some of the duck dances and see them perform. I think I could enjoy my self pretty well if I didn’t take a part myself, just looking at the rest. I suppose you had a good time on the sleighride. That one that you had four horses and to sleigh hitched together and twenty two in the load. The seat you spoke of was my favourite one so I think it was the best seat. We took five prisoners yesterday. There is more or less gets taken every week. If we keep on taking prisoners as we have for the past to weeks we will soon have them all out of the south. It is a very pleasant day here. The boys is all airing their clothing because it is such a nice day. We hante had much snow here. What their has come went wright strait off. I am getting tired of walking around through the mud for it has been muddy for to months. I hope it will soon dry up. There is know use of me trying to write to day for I cant but you must excuse this letter and I will do better next time. From your Friend John Write as soon as you get this I will expect an answer soon
