Regiment: 1st Michigan Engineers Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Browns Borrow Station Alabama May 15 1864 To Miss Ann Clark I received your letter to night and was quiet glad to hear from you and I have not read they hole of they leter but I have red enough to understand that you got they cow and praps you will have a good one and Bill Taft had not better take to much for I be smart enough for hiim this time and his money has been wating of him ever since 8 day of January last and it was not diew on the first day of May nether and he must recolect that I be in they Army and no cant for close I supose he was mad about the cow I had a letter stating that he was to have pay for keeping her through the winter and I rote to him and about that castle if you do not sucseed this time dont try no more give it hup and about that varment it is not in my head but in my close I have no such thing in my head at all look in your letter again or it is my misstake if I understand you you sent me a box of pills I have not got them yet and I understand that you want to send me a box but I tell you again not to send anything till I send for it and ten it will be time enough for it may lay in Nashville three or four months before I gett it and I do not want any thing only a letter with some news [  ?  ] and to hear that you are all well and getting a long right and a nother thing you try and find they letter that I ever sent to you stating that you should give me a count of every sent that you spent or if ever I asked you now I dont want you to send me any more such stuff remember I said to you if you send me any thing send they prise and the reason is that I now the differance of prises and every one is asking how I only ask you to produse that letter as I have rote stating that I want a ful a count of the expenditure and if they Cap let you have any money let me know and I will pay him I signed they pay rowl a week a go last saturday for the first time but I have got no pay yet and we expect it everyday yet and I wish you would examin my letters verry cloose for I never by no person you ned not think but I have got a feeling yet I think you will find in my first letter that I said you must yet some thing to heat in the ouse and in my last one I have been trying to get a paper to send to the Cap for this two or three days but I cant get one I came to Nick Seaar last friday and on Saturday he red Cap letter he sail that he ware going to rite to Cap on Sunday but wether he did or not I do not know for I have not asked him and I have had no letter from George Starkwether yet there is every prospect of being have thu winter more so then ever I so before so [        ?        ] Yours Wm Slater
