Regiment: 3rd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp at St Louis Mo May the 16 /64 Dear parents I take this oportunity of adressing a few lines to you to inform you how I get along we are all well at present and enjoying ourselves very well only we are out of money I dont think there is one dollar in the Company with exception of the oficers part of the regiment has started for Little Rock Arkansas seven companeys went yesterday and the rest of us are going to day we have not drawed our horses yet nor arms either we have got muskets and they say they are going to make Infantry of us but they will have a good time of it I guess for the men and oficers says they wont stand it Albert is well he is ordily for Colonel Hatch but I guess he will go to I dont know you wrote in mitchells leter that you thought I was smart for not writing. I will try and explan this thing in the first place I have write and have not got an answer and in the next place I have not got any postage stamp nor money to buy them I have borrowd all I have used for some time and I have got ashamed of asking for them I calculated to get some Photographs taken before I left here but I could not get the money but as soon as we get where we can draw our pay I will get some taken without fail now you can depend upon it if there is such a thing and when I send them I want you to give Trude one of the best and the first time you see her you tell her if she will send me her picture, she can have mine first but she knows how it is and you give one to Aunt Clista. Mitchell seams to think that we will get out next September but I cant see the point yet but never mind when I do get out I think I will stay for a while well as much as thirty days any how well I will close for Mitchell is going to write so good bye for this time from Edwin to Mother and Pa and Vicky and Jane
