Dear Sister
we left Covin
gton last monday noon
and got here Saturday
night we are about one
hundred and twenty miles
nearly South of Cincinnati
we are about one miles from
the Kentucky River, it is pretty
rough and rocky along that River
and is covered wit Serub cedar
the first night we camped
on the ground where morgan
camped last fall it is pretty
rough around Covington and
Cincinnati and they have
got the highths all fortified
it was pretty rough for
a number of miles after we
left Covington then we
come to some nice looking
country for a ways then we
come to where it was very
hilley again for about one
and a half days march then
we come to some very nice
country the wheat looked
good the corn was but little
bigger than it was in Ohio
when we come throug
there it is the poorest watered
country that I was ever in
it seems to be alive with
soldiers all around here
we are about 30 miles sout
of lexington and about
six miles from the south
end of the Kentucky
central Rail Road
we have our water
to carry about a mild
and we have to over a
mild to go to water
our Horses
my health is getting better
Erastus is well
