Morgan Hickmans Bridge Ky June 8th 63 Dear Sister we left Covin gton last monday noon and got here Saturday night we are about one hundred and twenty miles nearly South of Cincinnati we are about one miles from the Kentucky River, it is pretty rough and rocky along that River and is covered wit Serub cedar the first night we camped on the ground where morgan camped last fall it is pretty rough around Covington and Cincinnati and they have got the highths all fortified it was pretty rough for a number of miles after we left Covington then we come to some nice looking country for a ways then we come to where it was very hilley again for about one and a half days march then we come to some very nice country the wheat looked good the corn was but little bigger than it was in Ohio when we come throug there it is the poorest watered country that I was ever in it seems to be alive with soldiers all around here we are about 30 miles sout of lexington and about six miles from the south end of the Kentucky central Rail Road we have our water to carry about a mild and we have to over a mild to go to water our Horses my health is getting better Erastus is well write soon Direct to Cincinnati Ohio and it will be forwarded to the Regiment as that is the head quarters of this division of the army yours in the cause of liberty from Robert Rogers to Helen Rogers
