Flint Friday
Dec 8th
Dear “Uncle Buck”
You will be [ ? ]
–
[ ? ] to receive a line
from me here. I was at
the little entertainment
of which the programme is on
the opposite page & saw there
your wife & various young
Bucks & was much delighted
to see the family of my good
but fun true friend Lyma
G. I found also that your
kind mention of me had
made me almost an old
acquaintance of a good many
good men & women of Flint
such as Judge Avery, Majer
George T Clark &c &c
Bye the way, how would
you like to be one of our
little party to night. Who
are to meet at Judge Avery’s
in an hour or two & spend
the evening with a
[ ? ]
game of Euchre & some
of his captal old Rye
Whiskey punch? Eh?
Would not you warm
the cockles of your big
old heart & wouldnt
we have many a good
joke
[ ? ] & laugh over
our adventures at Beaufort
Oh I wish that wishing
could bring you here.
but it wont I must
take an extra hot for you.
Tell Capt Lyon “Ly” & all
the Flint boys that I have
had a thousand enquires
from mothers aunts sisters
& cousins in regard to them
and that if afforded me
much pleasure to say that
I had seen all the boys
within four days & all
were well. Dr. Wilson is
here & is to be one of our
party at the Judge’s to night.
The Flint people think of
you all with a great deal
of fondness & intent
I have a great many thing
which I would like to write
to you but wont I for hear.
Give my best love to Capt
Lyon, “Ly” & all the boys
& tell them to write to me
I have not forgotton what
you & I spoke of & if
is is possible shall
[ ? ]
Accept much [ ? ]
