Dear Brother and Sister
I received your Kind letter yesterday Was glad
to hear from you I am well and hope you are all the same I received
Effies likeness all safe and sound There is nothing going on here
everything is quiet Nice weather splendid nights I ever saw in my life
I have had bad luck I lost my Pocket Book with Dollars in it – I have
sent Mother 60 Dollars and would have sent her more if I had not lost
my pocket Book I hope before this year is ended this war will be at an
end and we can have the chance to buy the crockery business If you
can have 150 dollars By the time this year is ended and I will have 100
Dollars bounty that will make a small capital to try our plan and I think
that we will make well out of it I would like to see Mother in a good
home of our own and all live together once more So Mother can pass
the rest of her days in peace and happiness Christmas and New Years
was just like any other day in the year Nothing going on I am not at all

them I would like to get a furlough and make you a visit If the army
remains inactive I will try and make you a visit I guess the Sagt. would
take me back in the

I had kept with the Co. I think it was right to gave the stripes to the
