About the Author
Mair Pointon, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, enlisted as a Corporal in the 6th Wisconsin Infantry Company A on May 10, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day and was later promoted to 1st Sergeant. On October 19, 1864, Pointon was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. Mair Pointon was discharged from service on July 14, 1865.
