Regt Sunday Dec 21st/61 Dear Brother I have just received yours of 26th and was surprised to hear that I had the Measles I don’t know how Mother heard of any such thing I have not been sick with any disease since I came in the army all that I have been troubled with is sore eyes. I now weigh 148 pounds more than I ever weighed before I wish Mother would not trouble herself about things other people say about me. I intend to tell her just how I am every time I write I could have told you what Kind of a name Emily would the Babe. She always likes to be called Emma and wont answer to Eliza I like Emily’s names very well and hope to see Sister and neice some time I must now close for it is getting late Give my love to Algin and receive the same yourself M.
