Dear Brother
I have just received yours of 26th and was surprised to hear that I had the Measles
I don’t know how Mother heard of any such thing I have not been sick with any disease
since I came in the army all that I have been troubled with is sore eyes. I now weigh 148
pounds more than I ever weighed before I wish Mother would not trouble herself about
things other people say about me. I intend to tell her just how I am every time I write I
could have told you what
Kind of a name Emily would the Babe. She always likes to be called Emma and wont
answer to Eliza I like Emily’s names very well and hope to see Sister and neice some time
I must now close for it is getting late
Give my love to Algin
and receive the same
yourself
M. Pointon
Yours in haste
