Dear Cousin Carrie
I received yours of the 15 today and it is useless to
say that I was just as glad as ever to hear from you and that is very
glad indeed. Well Carrie, I am back in the City of Baltimore and
I am none the sorry for it you may bet for I be goin to get tired of
marching. Well we will not have any more to do for three months.
We got orders that we would stay here for three months or 90 days and
their I do not know what they will do. I suppose that they will do as
they have been doing and that is nothing. Well let them rip. We will
well enough this Winter for they have got our about done and then we
will be all right. We don’t have to drill a great deal now for is a
great of the boys on guard and working on the barrix. Carrie have you
had any cold weather in Michigan. We have just as nice weather as we
can ask for. We have not seen a bit of snow here. We have had some
frost. Carrie you said you was much obliged to me for that cotton.
Carrie you are entirely Well I have wrote about all that I can think
of. Your must excuse this bad writing for this is the fourth letter that
I have wrote today so give my love to all and goodbye. Write soon.
From your cousin
John S. Perkins
