Dear Wife
I thought that I
would write a few lines to
let you know that I am
well I heard from home
last night bye way of Elisha
Wright he said that he saw
Dr Schnylen last Sunday
he told him that Fred had
been very sick but was
better then he said that
he
you did not think that he
would live. O how I wish
that I could be there to
help you take care of him
for I know that you kneed
it by Julia you must
do the best that you can
and keep up good courage
for may be better days in
store for us yet
The report is now that
we have gotto leave this
State for head quarters in
a few days but I do not
know what day but I think
that we will leave as soon
as we draw our pay
I would like to see some of
the boys before I leave but
I do not much think that
I shall But if we should
not leave in two or three
weeks
I tell Silas that I
would like to have him
come down and see me I will
write him as soon as I learn
write as soon as you receive
this and left me know how
Hiram and Fred is a getting
along and whether Florance
is homesick yet or not
it is almost two Oclock and
I have gotto go on guard
last night was quite dark
Standing on guard but I had
no trouble tell mother that
I will write to her next
write soon for I would like
to hear from home if you
cannot read this you must
guess at it for I am in
a great hurry no more at
present from your affectionate
husband
