th
as I have a few leasure moments
this Eavening I will Improve the
Time in answering your short but
Welcom letter it makes my heart
Rejoyce to hear from Friends that
are far away, if I was Deprived of
the use of a Pen. I would consider my
self for ever unhappy. but when I
am sad and lonely I can devote my
Time in Writing to some one that is
far away. I am surprised to hear that
William Schanck has Departed
from Essex. I am more surprised
to hear that Cyrus is going to Idaho
but I honor their Judgement for so doing
I hope they will be successful in
what ever attempt in the way of doing
good to themselves and others. they will
learn the ways of the World. that is a grat
blessing to one unexperienced. I have had
more than I wish to again. I think if
ever I come home I will give up my
Rambling Disposition. I have been quite
unwell since I came back to the Regt
but I am well now. You spoke in your
letter of your good spelling. I thought
you spell very nice. I am learning to
spell just like you did. You spoke of
having sleighing. the snow fell the 22
nd
of March in Va Ten Inches Deep, but
it only lasted Two or three Days at the
Present we are blessed Two inches of
mud and still it is Raining. You can
Imadgeon the pleasure we have going
around on Foot. Alma you
can not Imadgeon how lonely
I look this eavening. no one to bother
me. one of my Tent mates is on Picket
the other has retired to his humble
couch. and now its Raining Quite hard.
