Regiment: 24th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Albert M. Edwards, General Robertson Detroit Michigan March 9th 1865 Dear Colonel I have seen Gen’l Robertson today, he has telegraphed to the War Dept and will receive our answer tomorrow. In case the answer is favorable I will remain here but if not I shall return to Springfield by the day train I did not intend waiting so long but thought it useless to return with- out accomplishing something. Col. [ ? ] thought I had better stay here at [ ? ] but I do not like the idea of being here recruiting without proper authority – all I care for is to get men enough so that we can muster if we should be fortunate enough to get our commissions Yours Respectfully Wm Hutchinson Leut Col AM Edwards               [ ? ] 24th Mich.
