Regiment: 3rd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp near Jackson March 24th I have not seated myself to reply to any letter but to let you know that we are all well & feel well today is Sunday & we have been paid off but only got two months pay I would send it to you by mail but am afraid to for fear of losing it Tomorrow morning we leave here for 5 days on a scout but you must write just as often for they will come & when they do they are perused with the greatest of pleasure Jane I can tell you that you may believe that I would like to see your likeness & Trudys & would like to see the original Jane I cant write much to night for it is late & we leave at six in the morning but it will let you know how we are getting along Ed has not been very well for a few days but he is all right now He received a letter from Andrew Coch ran they were all well hope it will not be long before we may go home once more to enjoy our homes & friends socials I sent 61 Doll home by Henry Chatfield ten for Ed no news of much impor tance but the report is that one of our trains of cars have been taken between here & Memphis Yours Truly Forever M H.
