Regiment: 3rd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: St. Louis March 23rd 64 Dear Wife & Parents, At this time finds me seated at at a table scribbling a few lines to let you know Where we are etc. We are all well left Kalamazoo the 19th at 3 PM & arived at this place 22nd 2 PM had to put up our own tents & sleep on the ground but I went to a house & paid for logings rather tough on the new recruits but they stand it like men Duane I sent a certificate for a Bounty in our town & backed by the Provost Marshall of our District Bought it off Ewers & I want you to see Emory & ask him if you can draw it for me & let me know I let him have the Beehouse I got of Cochran & gave him fifty dollars in money for the order Jan I am going too town in a few days & will have some photographs taken you we had lots of fun coming down here I have not much news this time & will write more next time PS I would like to be at home to night very well kiss Trudy for me Direct to St Louis Mo Co C NB Jane I send a letter to Ike & if he has gone to Detroit Direct it to him & dont let any one see it
