Your letter came to hand to day
and as I have got my days work all closed
up. I seat myself to give a brief reply in
return. You will see by this this that I still
remain in Detroit. Probably Shall during
life. Think it is a very
[ ? ] climate
much more so than further South. I have
not heard from Mitchell nor Ed since they
left here. Have written to Mitchell once but
recd no reply. I do not know the reason
unless it is because I do not give them
in the field. But I guess I shall see them
by the time they have enjoyed the beauties
of Soldiering in the field as long as I have
You ask if I intend to come home before
joining my ryment. It is my intention
to do so now. But these military matters
are very uncertain and I have learned
not to place much dependence upon
matters of the kind However favorable the
prospect I have not heard from Albert
in Some time But I recd a letter
from a friend in the Co a few days
ago and the boys were getting along
well. I heard from Henry A

since. he was well at the time he wrote
in regard to your Baby Jane, I think she is
very nice. But I shall not give up that she
cant be bear until I try my Hand. I
think you can rely upon my coming home in two
or three weeks. I wrote to our folks

ago But have recd no answer. I am
getting
[ ? ] anxious to come home
to see sister Sarah and her Babies. I could
get a furlough tomorrow if I should apply
for
[ ? ] but the proper time
[ ? ] not quite
at hand. As I said before I expect to fo
home inside of two weeks. But it is rather
uncertain when I shall go to the Ryment
Excuse much haste, it is after Tapps and
I must retire so
