Regiment: 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Newburgh Dec 4th /62 Dear Sister It is with a sad heart that I address you now and with a sad sorrow put hear you will read it our Brother George is dead he died Nov 25 at 1 1/2 oclock one of his comrades wrote to me his disease was Chronic Dysentary he said they couldent prevail on him to let us know how sick he was till it was too late the letter came night before last I would have written you enday but my head ached so I couldent and I must close this and write to the others on will you write to Eleanor I wish you would [ ? ] send her this from Nancy I had a letter a week ago in which he wrote that he was coming home so the sad news came unexpected Mrs Margaret Silbs Dear Aunt we are all well and hope these few lines will find you the same I can not write much because I have only 3 minutes to write, mother has been real sick and had the doctors. she was threatened with a feaver. I did not know wheather you had heard the news. I cant think of anything more but be sure and write Well’s
