Dear Father
I received a letter
from Mother and one from Willie
one from Emma and one from
Hatty dated Feb 18 I am sory
to here that you cant get Plaster
as fast as you can sell it
Mother says you have broke a
shaft I supose it is the shaft
that drives the cracker you
must have to run the mill
night and day there must be
a grate demand for Plaster or
you did not have much on
hand last fall if I owened
the
the mill I would get my stock
down in the summer when you
write agen let me now how
much you have sold is Mathews
selling much I supose he is out
the same as you are. Your Partner-
ship with Smith is out in July
next are you going to renew
it if you dont I will try and
get out of the army but if you
have to stay with Smith I will
stay down here.
I supose Lt Henry
told you some big stores about
Col Hall he has always used me
well so I have no falt to find
with him but when he sayes he
ispround he sayes that which
ante so he likes to see the men
and the officers look well. when
steve was here any one to of seen
him would of thought he was a
farmer instead of an officer
that is one reason that he lost
his comisson. I supose willie
thinks a goodeal of his gun
he must not shoot it he can
keep it to look at that is all
it is good for I supose the draft
has gon of in the 1 ward.
smith must
must frett a goodeal
I would of stood a good chance
to be drafted if I had stayed
at home I am not sory that I
came in this Regt I dont now
what they are keeping us here
for there is nothing here for us
to dae. we are having a goodeal
of rain at present and it is getting
very muddy I think if we move
we will got to Knoxville
Capt Stroud has gon home recruting
he started the same time that
Major Hall did I supose he is
home by this time if we dont
get Paid of before long I will
have you send the mony by
Mr Hall when he comes back
but I think we will get Paid
off before long you have not
sold the colt yet I wish you
could sell him he will be
old enough to Brake this
summer our Chaplin has gon to
Murfreesboro so we will have got
to get along without one.
this is all I have got time to
write Give my love to Smith
and the rest of the men.
and to the rest of the folks
write soon
