Regiment: 5th Michigan Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: My Dear I thought I would not write until I heard from you but we shall go for Washington Tuesday next and I suppose you do not get your mail but once a week consequently I write you at this time we are all well and enjoying ourselves verry well we get our uniforms next Monday. I send you my certificate and if the supervisor will not help you can make him we will not get paid until we get to Washington you need not write until you hear from me again while writing this soon on the Ferg Boat going up to Detroit a lot of the boys have got passed to go up to the site we are to be back by four s clock it is pretty hard work to drill about 7 hours each day we have to be up at 5 oclock and be in bed by 9 PM did you have a lonesome side home that evening how sorry I was shot I could not go with you but I will not talk of such things but keep in good spirits I will write again before leaveing there the boat has just landed and I will close I wish I could send you and Paul kisses In haste Jim
