Curtis Dear Friend Once more I will avail myself of the opportunity to write you I am quite well at present haveing [  ?  ] the [  ?  ] of my [  ?  ] One thing I can [  ?  ] to say that I am among the roughest set of men that ever was permitted to assemble together if the whole regiment is like these [  ?  ] compromises I must say that I have no particular inclination to sea them together they have the name here already of being the meanest set of men that ever was at the Battery Baracks they have the name in [  ?  ], of Michigan Swifts I certainly cannot blame Andrew [  ?  ] for his [  ?  ] liar dislike toward them I have just about as good an opinion myself at present a certain portion of them are very much adapted to stealing one of them so much so that on a favorable ocasion he was very successful in stealing his own knapsack and was very much disapointed to find that still had [  ?  ] one on one ocasion several pitched [  ?  ] on old man about 80 years of age who was selling [  ?  ] and as they term it confiscated the whole lot the old man wept over his loss whereupon myself and one other paid him for a dozen chicken pies at 35 cents we compromised the matter however at 25 cents each I am willing to acknowledge now that this portion of the Mich Engrs are the meanest set of men that I ever knew But nevertheles I allow them to attend to ther’s own Buisness and Bostwick and I attend to ours so much for the Mich Engrs I am sorry to say it Bostwick and me parred the day jester day in the [            ?            ] the [  ?  ] American curisoity Barnums Murium and Aravele parredd the rest of the time in traviling about the city Wilderness all I have to say is it a succession of curiosites very much alike supper is now ready and I must close my letter when you write pleas state what the [  ?  ] of that box was if you have received it Pleas Adress ER.
