Dear Wife
It was with the greatest of pleasure
that I received your kind & affectionate
letter and a paper I got two papers tuesday
I am always glad when friday noon comes
for I always get your letter then please
write the date always of the letter you
get from me for you do not say anything
about what is in the letter. I do not know if you
got the last I wrote. I told you to buy wood &
to get some one to wheel the manure & that
James Foote could not get is discharge
I hope this will find you all well as it
leaves me at present thank God for it. I am
sorry my Bell was sick but I am real glad
she is better. I hope you and baby will have
a good time in Detroit. I feel greatley disappointed
at not being sent to Detroit but I can put up
with it. tell Anthony I wrote to him last
week. I should feel miserable if I realy
thought that you think I will be angry with
you for trying to serve the Lord you are
doing right. I try to pray every day and read
my bible but I know that it would be harder
for me to go forward than it was to enlist.
but I hope you will pray for me, I had just
has leave that Footes took the old shop. I wish
the thing were just in the barn, sign & all
if Mr Cranford does as he wrote let us have
it. you must not work too hard so as to get
sick. I have not got any money yet. I have
not a cent of money and I put
on the last
stamp on this don’t send any for I expect some
next week. those berries you sent are nice
now that I am in the hospital. A lot more
criples came in Sunday night so it is not
so lonesome now, it is very rainey now. I do not know
of any more news. Kiss the dear children for me
tell Joe to be a good boy give my best respects
to all the folks. hopeing the war will soon close
and that I shall soon. see you all, my best love to
you so no more at present from your ever
