I suppose we shall get no
pay till this campaign is over.
When we left Alexandria
I packed two blankets an
overcoat & left them there with
the Co’s thing. The overcoat is
an officer’s overcoat. I traded with
Eldred & got it & camp Lyon. Church
used to have it & his mane is on the
back of the lining. C. S. Burge
Keep the grape vine till When you
plant the vine take the wax off
the lower end and put a potatoe in its place. Be
sure and plant it as to the
[ ? ] you
know best. I send too a persiminon and
some seeds. Plant the seeds in the spring.
You may give two or three of them to Ursulas &
Elmon.
There is also a part of a leaf from
the Magnolia planted by Washington. If you
could varnish it it would always keep
its color.
