Col
I would respectfully ask for leave of
absence for twenty (20) days on account of sickness
having been requested by Col Stockton to return
before I was intirely recovered from my wounds
received at Bull Run no field officer being with
the regiment at the time erysipelas having set
in which still remains in my left hand to
such an extent that I cannot use it and having
received a severe fall during the engagement
at Fredericksburg injuring my leg so much that
I have not been enabled to do duty since, trusting
this may be granted as this is the first time I
have lost a days duty from sickness since
I have been in the service
Very Respt
Your Obeident Servent
