About the Author
Thomas J. Barry, of Detroit, Michigan, enlisted in the 16th Michigan Infantry on August 1, 1861 at Ontonagon, Michigan. He mustered into Company A as a 35-year old Captain on September 7. On July 6, 1862, Barry was promoted to Major. He was listed as being wounded on August 30 at the Battle of 2nd Bull Run in Virginia. Thomas J. Barry was discharged for disability on June 20, 1863 at Aldie, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
