Mrs Babcock – Dear Madam
I persume ere this will reach
you. you will recieve a
few lines from me at Cairo
or rather on the Steamer Empress
whare I found your Husband
he was on his way home & I
precieved he was very sick. I
at once took him under my care
& done all I could for him.
I saw he failed
rapidly & I spoke to him about
his home. he said he wished
to see his family but he left
all in the hands of his God
knowing he doeth all things
well . . he died in the full
hope of glory feeling prepared
to leave all to join his Father
in that Heaven whare there
is no more sorrow & whare
God call his jewels togather
to sing his eternal praises
forever – your Husband has
gone & although you can never
see him more on earth you
have an asurance that in Heaven
you will meet the loved one
to him who reigns on high alone can you look
for consolation in your our
of sorrow
I sent all the things that
I found in his possession
& I here send the express
receipt – will you please
acknowledge it & tell me
if the things arive safe
leaving you & yours in
the hands of God I
