Residing in Detroit, Michigan, Corporal George A. Ross enlisted at the age of 19 in the 24th Michigan Infantry Company F on August 13, 1862. He was mustered into service on August 15 and was later promoted to 1st Sergeant. His other promotions included 1st Lieutenant on April 13, 1864 and Captain on October 17. Ross was transferred from Company F to Company I on April 29 and from Company I back to Company F on October 26. George A. Ross was discharged on June 30, 1865 at Detroit, Michigan.Documents for this Author:
