About the Author
Frederick S. Kettle, of Alpine, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 6th Michigan Cavalry Company B on August 30, 1862 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was mustered into service at the age of 20 on October 11. On July 1, 1864, Kettle was promoted to Corporal. Frederick S. Kettle died of disease on January 3, 1865 at Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia. He is buried at the Winchester National Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia.Documents for this Author:
