About the Author

Edwin R. Frank, of Oakland County, Michigan, enlisted as a Private in the 5^th Michigan Infantry Company B on August 28, 1861 at Fort Wayne, Michigan.  He was mustered into service that same day at the age of 23.  Edwin R. Frank was discharged on August 27, 1864 near Petersburg, Virginia.  He resided in Lansing, Michigan after the war.
