Sunday Dec 29th /61 Dear Brother I have just received your & bells kind and welcome letters and I thought that I would answer them now as I have plenty of time to write and do not know how long it will be before I will get another chance. It is Sunday night the boys of thethats number of our squad 2d squad are all in the tent and they make so much noise that I don’t as I will be able to write to you after all The weather here is verey mild it has not been verry cold I have seen cold let longer in Michigan in the month of august then I have seen since Ive been here. We have not scene much fighting yet and I don’t know when we shall the 5th have offered the enemy battle at four or five different times and places but could not get them into an engagement. There has been some talk here amongst the soldiers to the effect that Richardson brigade had been ordered to Texas but guess its more talk than anything else One of our boys has just got his discharge he leaves for mich to morrow his name is John Proman. he got his papers to night our orderly sergeant went home a week ago he has got a captain commission in Michigan brigade-George New ton has been very sick but is now about well will probably get his discharge from the hospit al tomorrow. Well lite ive wrote about all that there is to write about unless I would write war and the probability is that you get more war news in mich than we do here. So john Olivers and Augusta Pixley are married well what next. twll sid that the next thing I expect to hear is that he and Bersey Erderkin are cele brating their honey moon that will do Give my respects to all enquiring friends and tell them to write Please excuse all mistakes catch up cant come it ye __ __ ___ 150 pounds hey trying to see there tell bell I have not time to write to her to night but will write soon yours with a brothers love E R Frank
