About the Author
Clark S. Edwards was born on March 26, 1824 in Otisfield, Maine. He was residing in Bethel, Maine when he enlisted as a Captain in the 5th Maine Infantry Company I on June 24, 1861. He was mustered into service that same day at the age of 37. On July 1, 1862, Edwards was promoted to Major and transferred from Company I to Field and Staff. His other promotions included: Lieutenant Colonel, November 22; Colonel, January 8, 1863; and, Brigadier General by Brevet, March 13, 1865. Clark S. Edwards was discharged from service on July 27, 1864. He died on March 3, 1903 in Bethel, Maine.Documents for this Author:
