About the Author
Philo D. Cutler, of Ionia County, Michigan, enlisted on September 7, 1861 in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry Company D. He enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant at the age of 41. He was mustered into service on October 14. Cutler was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on October 1, 1862 and transferred to Company F. He declined a commission to Major of the 3rd Infantry on July 29, 1864. Philo D. Cutler was discharged on November 1. He lived in Ionia, Michigan after the war.Documents for this Author:
