Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Warren Station State of Georga May the 8th 1864 Dear friends I take the present opportunity to send you  a fiew lines to let you know that I am well at this time we ar now within 8 miles of Dalton and in line of Battle we have seen skirmishing with the enmy now for 4 or 5 days and I think about to morrow a General set to will take place as they ar gone back in to there fortifa- cations and sean to sho fight we left Cleveland or the 3d and we have not had our horses on saddled onley for a fiew mimets at a time since we left if Thomas is at home tell him we have had a chance to try our spencer rifels and our new men stood they fire like vetrans we have an awful large force here now and I think if the rebs do not run of to night we will make Dixie tremble to the verry core tomorrow as easy thing is now reddy the infa ntry ar all in line to night an evry thing all ready I have not got a litter from home since the 17th of March and I do not know the reason nor I have not herd whither [   ?   ] got home yet or not since I wrote before I have had the Measels I was only sick one week with them I never left the camp- am the weather is fine but verry warm and dry no more at this time pleas write soon and let me know how you all ar as soon as I get in camp I will let you know all about our move ment if I am speared life and helth So good by from your affectionate Nephew John Wasson pleas excuse the shortness of this letter as I have wrote it on my Knee and in the field J.W.
