Dear Add
Your letter of the
6
th was received about a
week ago and the presents
from yourself and Mary
arrived Christmas Eve.
They are perfectly splendid
and just what I wanted
The gloves were just just what
I needed as I had none and
had been wishing for a
pair I thank you a thous
and times and Mary I thank
a million times it does me
good to know that I am
thought of once in a while
I would like to send some
thing to Birdie but Add I can not
and you must except well
for the deed. I thought it strange
that Mary & Arthur was boarding
at Edgar’s but now I see why
I hope they both will do well
and I guess they will if good care
is what they merit.
I am glad that you are so hope-
ful about your patent and if
it works as you think it
will it surely is a tremen-
dous big thing. I suppose if
you start in Saginaw you
will make salt barrels.
I was in hope that you could
make pork barrels and then
there would be a big opening
out here. One firm alone
in Kansas City paid out last
year about sixty thousand
dollars ($60,000) for barrels.
You wanted me to tell you
if there was any cotton wood
out in this section well
I should think there was there
is cotton wood all up and
down the missouri the same
as the Mississippi there is no
end to it there is also considerable
Elm but not as much of it.
I did not know that I was the
son of an Hon. member of the
California Legislature it was
news to me. When you write
tell him I am still alive.
Well Add I dont know of any
thing that will interest you
so I guess will bring this to
a close My brother is first
rate I again thank you and
Mary for the presents
From Bro. Ed.
