Regiment: 6th Wisconsin Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp of 6th Wisc [  ?  ] April 7th 1864 Dear Brother & Sister Your long looked for letter has at last arrived had almost given up ever receiving another letter from you We are in the same Camp near Culpeper  Our duty is picketing and [  ?  ] which is not very heavy picket duty is the worst for the weather has been so bad it has rained or snowed every day for most two weeks today is the first nice warm day  Hope alzeria will soon be well  also Effie Here is a piece of poetry on a Babe Oh happy husband! happy wife! The rarest blessing heaven drops down  The Sweetest blossom in Spring’s crown  Starts in the furrows of you life A babe is a rare blessing  And something every farther is proud off I hope Franks will make you a visit  I shall try and persuade her to do so for Indiana does not agree with her. She has been troubled with sore eyes now a long time.  George has enlisted in the 4th Regulars [  ?  ] I think  I don’t think Geo. has changed or Mary very much. I think he was foolish to enlist after he has had one trial of it  Mother has bought the next lot to us so She has both you remember they lay something like this It will make a good comfort able home for Mother We are to have Dress parade tonight so I will have to close with my love to all From your Offc.
