Regiment: 6th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: washington tues 13 1863 my dear friend kate I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well and hope that this will find find you the same I seen gorge powers the other day he got a leter from Sarah the day be fore he was here and it was the first that he new that Sam and I was enliste d he is in the hospitel but he is well he has bin tere a bout four months he stayed here all nigh and we had a nise time when I first saw him I dident hardly now him and he all most shook my hand off bil beckwit h came over here a week a go last sunday he was well and looked helthy and [  ?  ] we hav some of the tallest times that you ever saw we dont get old dalmers geese but we get som body all els one night a lot of us went one nigt and one of our shargent went into the house and 2 shilings of worth of cake eg white we got 5 dolers worth john wisner was growling because he dident get any letters he says he has roat 8 or 9 leters and hant got any yet I had the best break fast you ever saw I had a chunk of salt pork and bred I wish you would send me som milk for we cant get any here but we can get som chalk and water tel your father that he must not beleve what he heres in the eagel for it is all a ly we got two papers the oter day and a corden to them the rebels about whiped but the rebels are a whip ing us all the time giv my respects to all so good by yours truly fred to kate hand this to kate [On Envelope:] Mrs B Hamilton Kent Co Grand Rappeds
