Regiment: 4th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Braxton Bragg, Robert H. Minty Head Quarter 1st Brigade 2d Cav Div McMinnville Aug 16, 1863 My dear Davidson I wrote you a long letter on the 14th + sent you Col Minty’s report and five papers the same day.    I now write to say that we are off again the Army of the Cumberland is again “marching on” We are to start at 2 o’clock to-morrow morning for Chattanooga. It is doubtful here whether Bragg will make a stand there or not. We are going to see. It will take us about five days to get there. Think of getting up to-night at midnight pulling down our houses and starting off in the storm at 2 o’clock. Of course it is raining It always does when a general movement is contemplated. I have not time to write anything. I am very well. Good bye, Watch the papers. We are going to hit if we can. The fault won’t be ours if we fail. God bless you all, Love to Mother Your affec.
