Scott, James P.

About the Author

James P. Scott resided in Grand Haven, Michigan when he enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Field and Staff on September 2, 1861. He was mustered into service at the age of 47 on October 2. On April 15, 1862, he was transferred from Field and Staff to Company D. His other promotions included: Acting Quartermaster, July 15; 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster, August 1; Acting Quartermaster, January 15, 1864; and, Acting 1st Lieutenant, March 1, 1865. Scott accidentally shot himself on May 15 at Cleveland, Tennessee. James P. Scott was discharged from service on August 17 at Macon, Georgia.
