About the Author
Harmon F. Nicholson was residing in Joliet, Illinois when he enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company E on September 2, 1861 at Muskegon, Michigan. He was mustered into service on October 2 at the age of 29. Nicholson received several promotions including: Captain, June 1, 1862; Acting Assistant Inspector General 1st Division, March 1864; and, Major, March 1, 1864. From May to November 1863 he was the aide-de-camp of the 1st Brigade in the 1st Division and was the Assistant Inspector General of that brigade from November 1863 to February 1864. Harmon F. Nicholson was discharged from service on August 17, 1865 at Macon, Georgia.Documents for this Author:
