Dear Uncle
Your letter of the 10 inst. came to
hand being oly 7 days on the road
I delayed writing till I found out
how the regt was going on the vetran
enlistment I think they will go
home as a vetran regt in a short
time they only wanted 50 more to
make the compliment last night
and they ar still enlisting very
fast Thomas and we have not gone
in yet but if they regt goes I think
we will go with them first the
boys thought they would not go but
they soon gave up the notion one and
then another went till now they ar
most all in and sworn in so there
no backing out as it was before
I think they will start about the
first of April I cannot say yet as
we will go but I think we will
if the regt all goes so you may
expect us for I have not the leas
don’t but they I will I do not know
what to say to you about the place
there is one thing certain that none
of us will be home to help this
summer now whithe we enlist or not
for this prevents the regt being discharged
in June so I do not know any thing
you can do but let it lay and if you
can keep the out side fences up
and use it for pasture I will never
go home and stay as long as the war last
I must tell you now about the grait
snow storm we had here the weather
here all this month has been very
bleak and cold until the night
of the 21
st it snowed most all night
and all the next day the storm came
from the north east it blew a
strong breze all the time and it
was the worst storm we had all
winter the snow fel to about the
depth of 14 inches more snow than
fel all winter the peaches have been
in blow ever since the 8
th of the
month but they ar all killed
they people all say they have not
seen the like of this for thirty years
the weather is not very warm yet but
the snow all got of yesterday we
drew two months pay a fiew days
ago but did not send any home
I thought I would wate and se
if we went home so I lent myen
here so I will make about 50 per
cent on it and I can get it when
I want it I do not intend to
draw any more till next October
if I do not go in the vetran corps
so when I send any more I will send
over 100 dollars the two months pay
we drew now payes us up to the 1
st
